Abstract: The purpose of this work consisted in the analysis of scientific literary sources and the database of the National Bureau of Statistics regarding the dynamics of the
rabbit population during the years 1980-2022. The paper reflects the economic importance of raising domestic rabbits, the percentage ratio of the categories of rabbit meat producers, the problems faced by peasant households and agricultural enterprises. As a result of the study, it was found that in order to increase the profitability of rabbit farms, it is necessary to use more efficient breeds of rabbits characterized by increased precocity and prolificacy, the implementation of scientifically proven technologies for improving, breeding, feeding and maintaining rabbits.
