Abstract: The boars, used in the artificial insemination process, represent one of the keys points production obtained from fattening pigs. The number of boars for artificial insemination is lower than that required for natural breeding. A full-cycle farm must maintain no than 0.5% boars the sow population. That is why the conditions for the boars must be very special, because they are the most expensive animals on the farm and the most sensitive. This paper describes the seasonal effect on semen production in two different types of maintenance of breeding boars during 2021-2022. The first type of livestock keeping is a slatted room with a simple ventilation and cooling system based on the main farm system. Another type is a separate building, made of energy-efficient materials, with an air-conditioning system and the possibility of keeping boars on the floor with soft wood sawdust bedding. Evidence from the results obtained regarding semen production such as: ejaculate volume, concentration, mobility and number of
doses sobtained, show that improving the maintenance conditions of the breeding boars, using two different types of maintenance, increases the quality semen and provides the opportunity to produce more doses of better-quality semen.
Keywords: boars, climate control system, ejaculate, semen doses, insemination process, concentration, mobility.
